Really? Last post more than 2 years ago?? Time really flies…and I guess that’s what happens when you keep busy! And indeed I have kept pretty busy, for the most part “hacking” my way through a couple more ALUI/WCI projects…But as we all know, WCI is moving towards an inevitable “death”, and as such, I have also been looking around to see if the grass is greener on the other side…and so far I have to admit that there is a lot of cool stuff on the “other side”…such as Atlassian Confluence (a wiki on steroid), Alfresco (an open-source enterprise content management system), and Drupal (an open source content management platform)…with which I have been experimenting consequently for the past year or so…
So even though I might still talk about WCI, this blog will likely be shifting focus to other non-WCI platforms such as the above ones…with more topics related to my technical achievements and findings “du jour”.
To give a bit of an idea of what I am up to, I co-wrote 2 white papers a couple of weeks back…and I think they could be of interests to you:
- 1 was co-written with hross, my friend and colleague from PPC, explaining how Drupal could be a serious alternative to WCI (http://www.ppc.com/Pages/WhitePaper-Drupal.aspx)
- The other was co-written with Rachel Sondag, another colleague from PPC, and explains how you can use wikis (such as Atlassian Confluence) to create a very Powerful Enterprise Social Media Collaborative Site. (http://www.ppc.com/Pages/CaseStudy-CollaborationandEnterpriseSocialMediawithWikis.aspx)
Check them out, as well as others on that white papers page (i.e. Aseem wrote a great paper on “Measuring the Effectiveness of Your Wiki by Leveraging Analytics”).
Happy to be back!
